Happy Chinese New Year to all! It's been a very relaxing week, what with celebrations and all... I love CNY! Too bad the official holidays are over... But CNY is still going on... for another 11 more days? Haha... With the celebrations behind me, I have to start being studious again... Books to read, assignments to do... It's gonna be hectic... The recess break next week is pretty useless... Haha... I'll have to think and write my research essay proposal for HL 211 by next week, like next friday... But I doubt I will get it done by then... We will see... Ok, I'm gonna start studying for CS100 mid-term test... Argh... Shouldn't mid-term tests be held after the recess break? ARGHhhh... :p

Watched M. Butterfly yesterday with Karen. And finally understood what Agnes and Durga meant by, "It's a really nice movie.". Nice? Yes... But also absolutely revolting. And yet, it's also absolutely memory-reviving... After watching the movie yesterday, I kept thinking back to the scene where "Butterfly" revealed "her" body to Rene G. And then thought back to other scenes in the movie. It's almost like a merry-go-round, where I go round and round, recalling scenes from the movie... Argh... Can I stop thinking???Anyway, the movie was a really different adaption from the original Broadway play. I think I would prefer the play to the movie itself. At the very least, the play conformed to all normal and digestable standards. Sure, in Madama Butterfly, Butterfly commits suicide so as to safeguard her son's future. In a way, it's a noble maternal act. An act of maternal concern and love for one's child. And yet, the movie deletes such an act of maternal nobility. Instead, it changes into one of pure disgust and revolt. "Butterfly" turns out to be a scheming spy, a spy who is willing to go to all levels to achieve "her" goals. Never mind "she" is a spy, why did she have to turn out to be a man as well??? No wonder I only saw the two leading guys' names on the cover of the videotape... and thought it strange? I was wondering throughout the movie who the other guy is throughout the movie... And now I know... And I kinda admire the guy who acts as the spy... He is super super convincing as a woman... Even I am fooled... '-'Whatever it is, still kudos to the director and scriptwriter of the movie... It totally upset conventions, all that we believe in, and turned it 360 around...

Watched the finale of Project Superstar 2 last night. I dare say it was the best competition ever. Haha… I’m only saying that because both contestants are my favourites in this competition. They really deserve to be in the finals… And I think Daren deserves the overall champion title too. :p
That said, I still think it was a pity that Diya did not win. Part of me was hoping she would win a nd do girls proud, after all, I'm getting a little sick of male champions emerging from such singing competitions. But then, another part of me is happy that Daren won. Contradictory ar? Comes from having two favourites contending each other, and also the feminist side of me acting up. Diya was good last night, even better than her previous performances. If not, she would not have won favour with the judges in 3 of the 5 rounds. She’s GOOD, and Daren too. Haha, I sound like a crazy fan, even to myself. Opps… But I am one...
And I’m glad that Diya might have a chance of securing a recording contract. Shouldn’t let her talent and effort go to waste… Haha…
To end off, I’m glad that Daren won! Most of his performances, from beginning to now, have been spectacular. He’s a star… Just so excited that Singapore finally has a different kind of singer, apart from composer types like JJ. Now we have a bad guy cum cool singer… It's a refreshing addition... to the now stagnant mix...
